Eating foods containing the flavonoid called apigenin, present in products such as parsley, tomato sauce or red wine may help prevent leukemia, and that would stop the development of two types of leukemia cells, a study University of Groningen (Netherlands) and recently published in “Cell Death and Disease”.
According to researcher Maikel Peppelenbosch, University of Groningen, “the apigenin may be a useful preventive agent against leukemia. However, the expert said, “should not be taken at the same time as chemotherapy when the disease is diagnosed because it could hamper the positive effects of treatment.”
Flavonoid Antioxidants
Flavonoids are compounds with antioxidant properties that protect cells against damage from oxygen molecules, as reported by news agency Europa Press.
